Section II of Line 9 in Barcelona, Spain, comes into service. The project investment was 735 Million Euros, with a maximum of 37.9-year concession period.
The section of Line 9 of the Barcelona Underground between Zona Universitaria station (Avenida Diagonal) and Terminal 1 of Barcelona - El Prat Airport was opened on the 12th February this year.
The opening of this stretch brings into service several stations in the Boroughs of Barcelona, L’Hospitalet and El Prat de Llobregat.
Thanks to this section of Line 9 coming into operation, the link between Barcelona and El Prat Airport can be covered in 32 minutes on the underground, and the section between the Borough of L’Hospitalet and Barcelona is also connected.
All of this is possible thanks to the variety of connections between the stations Zona Universitaria, Gornal, Torrassa and Collblanc and other lines on the Barcelona Underground Network, all of which form part of the concession for section of Line 9 of the Barcelona Underground.
These stations must be added to those of Section IV, which are granted to a company in which Iridium also has a shareholding, forming part of the longest metro line in Europe, 47.8 kilometres long and with 52 stations, which is expected to transport 100 million passengers a year.
