 07/29/2008 Iridium takes part in the OASIS project (Spain)

Iridium, Abertis and OHL Concesiones are leading the OASIS project for safe, smart and sustainable motorway operation, which has been approved by the Ministry of Science and Innovation through its Centre for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI), involving an investment of 30.5 million euros, and which is to receive a subsidy for about 50% of that amount.
On 29 July 2008 the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, as part of its fourth call for proposals under the CENIT programme, promoted by the Centre for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI), approved the strategic industrial research initiative known as the OASIS project.

The approved project will involve an investment of 30.5 million euros, and will receive a CDTI subsidy for nearly 50% of that amount.

The aim of OASIS, with an expected duration of four years, is to develop safe, smart and sustainable motorway operation.

The project has been promoted by an economic interest grouping (EIG) led by Iridium and a total of 16 other companies in the sector.

Also taking part are 15 of the country?s top universities and research centres, such as UPM (Polytechnic University of Madrid), UPC (Polytechnic University of Catalonia), the Universities of Valencia, Cantabria, Valladolid and Murcia, and CIDAUT, CARTIF, CENIT and CEDEX.
