On 11 September, in the presence of the Spanish King and Queen and the President of the Madrid region, the Majadahonda hospital was officially opened. The facility was commissioned on 16 September. With an estimated investment of 250 million euros and a 30-year concession period, this is the largest hospital in the Madrid region?s privatization programme.

The hospital is to cover an area of 165,000 m3 and to have 613 individual rooms. It will provide hospital care for a population of 550,000 in the north-west of the Madrid region.
