1/26/2012 The Pyrenean Dual Carriageway is opened (Spain)

The Pyrenean Dual Carriageway is opened (Spain). The project has a 240 million Euro investment and a 30-year concession period.

Sections 4 and 5 of the A-21 Pyrenean Dual Carriageway were opened on the 26th of January 2012 by the President of the Navarra Regional Community. The constructed sections are 16 kilometres long which, together with the previously existing 30 kilometres make up the complete Pyrenean Dual Carriageway that runs through Navarra and which, from the opening of the last sections, are in use and being operated and maintained by Sociedad Concesionaria Autovía del Pirineo, S.A., a company in which Iridium has 72% participation.

The total project investment was 240 million Euros and there is a 30-year concession period which commenced the day after the signing of the Concession Contract on the 31st of July 2009.
The project contemplates the execution of four junctions, two double tunnels, one of 1,648 metres and the other 945 metres in length and three viaducts with lengths of 495, 202 and 145 metres as noteworthy constructions.

The opening of the completed sections is yet another step in the improvement of communications between the north and east of Spain by means of the corridor that forms the Pyrenean Dual Carriageway to Jaca and the A-22 and A-23 dual carriageways to Lleida.
