The Concession holders Iridium, Acciona and OHL (each of which have an equal stake in the concession) began operating the 'Complejo Hospitalario Universitario de Toledo' (Toledo University Hospital) on July 1, 2019. The project was awarded by the 'Servicio de Salud de Castilla-La Mancha' (Castilla-La Mancha Health Department) in 2015 and was executed by a joint venture between Dragados, Acciona and OHL.
The contract involves an investment of approximately Euros 313 million to design the project and finance, build, maintain and partially operate the new health infrastructure for 30 years.
The construction works on a surface area of 250,000 m2 took 21 months to complete.
The Toledo University Hospital has 835 beds, 182 outpatient rooms and offices, 25 operating theaters, 100 day clinic units, facilities for radiation oncology, nuclear medicine and hemodynamics/electrophysiology, a heliport and more than 1,700 parking spaces.
Now the construction works have been completed, the Concession-holding Company will provide part of the non-health services until the Hospital is fully open, which, according to SESCAM (Castilla-La Mancha Health Department), will be in the second quarter of next year when the required technological equipment will have been fitted.
As well as providing the New Hospital with services, the Concession-holder will provide non-clinical services such as cleaning, full building maintenance, waste management, security and surveillance, laundry and logistics services and power and water supplies to several medical facilities throughout the region.
