SH 288 Toll Lanes is a design-build-finance-operate-maintain project that consists of the reconstruction of 10.3 miles (16.6 km) of highway. The new 4-lane, managed lanes toll road will connect southern Harris County to the Texas Medical Center in downtown Houston. This location is a critical commuter road and sees heavy traffic congestion with AADT of 140,000 vehicles. The project also includes the reconstruction of more than 50 bridges, of which 18 are direct connectors. The interchanges contain high-level directional flyover ramps measuring up to 1.3 miles (2 km) in length; long-span post-tensioned straddle bents, and sharply curved girder bridges.
